Entrambi i canali hanno controlli per Gain, Treble, Middle, Bass e Volume, mentre l’high-gain del Canale 2 ha, in aggiunta, uno switch Boost per gli assoli.

I combo sono caratterizzati dalla presenza di un riverbero digitale completo, con opzioni Long/Short, Hall/Plate, dotato di un controllo di livello separato e indipendente. Le testate, tuttavia, non dispongono di un riverbero, ma sono dotate di 2 loop FX con livello e controlli indipendenti. Il controllo delle prestazioni è all’avanguardia grazie la doppio Master Volume che, come nella selezione del canale, boost ed effetti possono essere controllati da un pedale a 4 vie che include un indicatore di stato a LED o 2 interruttori FS che consentendo il controllo delle funzioni via midi. Una singola presa esterna per effettistica Send e Return è posizionata sul pannello posteriore del combo insieme ad una manopola per il controllo del livello di ritorno.
Un’uscita line adatta al collegamento di apparati per la registrazione si trova sul pannello posteriore e include un emulatore di altoparlante, mentre un interruttore standby vintage si trova sul pannello frontale.
In aggiunta alle loro già impressionanti caratteristiche, entrambe le testate HX dispongono di due uscite di potenza. L’HX 100H può scendere a 50 watt, mentre l’HX 50H si dimezza a 25 watt, ciò sta a significare che la potenza può essere decisa opportunamente in base alle condizioni in cui si sta suonando permettendo un’adeguata saturazione del suono senza eccedere con i volumi. Anche l’HX 60C dispone di 4 modalità di alimentazione con conseguente possibilità di scegliere una tra le seguenti opzioni: 60, 30 o 15 watt grazie al selettore Fixed/Cathode Bias e alle modalità Pentode/Triode che permettono, anche in questo caso, un’adeguata scelta della potenza di uscita. L’HX 40C, dal canto suo, sviluppa 40 watt a piena potenza ma può anche essere commutato fino a 20 watt quando è richiesto un volume minore .
Anche se la serie HX è evidentemente progettata per il rock, ogni testata o combo è in grado di generare una impressionante gamma di tonalità pulite.
Commentando il lancio della linea HX, Mark Gooday, ha detto, “Per troppo tempo ormai, chitarristi con un piccolo budget sono dovuti scendere a compromessi tra qualità sonora e accessori. Questo è il motivo per cui abbiamo deciso di costruire una serie di amplificatori valvolari a prezzi accessibili che partono dal presupposto della qualità del suono per poi affiancarci accessori e caratteristiche come effetti, foot-switching a 4 vie ed emulatore dell’altoparlante per l’uscita di registrazione. Qualunque sia il modello scelto, un amplificatore HX vale molto più dei soldi spesi.”

Hayden’s NEW HX twin channel guitar amps combine real tube tone, stunning on-board digital reverbs and versatile, 4-way foot-switching – all at highly competitive prices. The ‘All Tube’ range consists of a 50-Watt head, 100-Watt head, 40-Watt 1×12 combo and 60- Watt 1×12 combo. Both channels have controls for Gain, Treble, Middle, Bass and Volume, while the high-gain Channel 2 adds a Boost switch for soloing.
The combos vary in that a comprehensive digital reverb with Long/Short, Hall/Plate options is fitted with a separate level control for the independent digital reverb. The heads however do not feature reverb but are fitted with 2 x FX loops with independent level controls and switching facilities. Unrivaled performance control is provided by dual Master Volumes which, like the channel selection, boost and effects, can be controlled by the 4-way foot-switch which includes LED status indication or 2 x FS 2 latching switches allowing midi controllable functions.
A single External Effects Send and Return sockets can be found on the rear panel of the combos, along with a Return Level control.
A line level Recording Output is also located on the rear panel and includes built-in speaker emulation. A vintage toggle standby switch is located on the front panel, alongside a classic illuminated jewel light.
Adding to their already impressive feature set both HX heads also feature two output power choices. The HX 100H can be dropped to 50 watts and the HX 50H down to 25 watts meaning the power section can be kept in the sweet spot whatever the gig. The HX 60C also has 4 power modes resulting in a choice of 60, 30 or 15 watts of tube tone thanks to the Fixed/Cathode Bias switch and Pentode/Triode modes resulting in just the right power for any situation. The HX 40C will push out 40 watts of tube power when in full power mode but can also be switched down to 20 watts when less volume is required.
Self biasing tube circuitry delivers powerful, harmonically rich overdrives with a fat, articulate bottom-end for bone crunching power chords, and soaring, saturated solo voicings for lead guitar. And although the HX are unashamedly designed to rock, they’re also capable of an impressively wide range of clean and crunch tones.
Commenting on the launch of the HX line, Hayden main-man Mark Gooday said, “For too long now, guitarists on a budget have had to compromise between tone and facilities. That’s why we set out to build a range of affordable tube amps that start off by getting the tone right, then pile on the features like effects, 4-way performance foot-switching and on-board speaker emulation for the recording output. Whichever model you choose, an HX Amp is a lot of amplifier for the money.”
